Star Wars Land Photo Report – 04/24/2017
This week we’re supporting our usual video report from Star Wars Land construction with some photos I’ve taken. The progress this week was pretty amazing with the extension of the Battle Escape building over the pool.
When we arrived, we got to see some construction workers actually lower an H beam in to place with the crane, then fasten it in. It was fascinating.
When we were on site, I thought for sure those boards were being built in a sort of spiral fashion, winding up to the top “level.” Something like a parking garage. But in looking at the photos, you can definitely see these two level are NOT connected.
The area in front of the Battle Escape building, what we figure to be queue obscured by mountains, is also staring to really peak my curiosity. I asked about the two cutouts in the concrete forms. I was advised that those are to prevent concrete from being poured there. Presumably their are doors or walkways? Someone said not likely though as they are only 6′ or so. But I can’t think of any better reason NOT to pour concrete in this way.
Over to the right, toward Hungry Bear, we got a pretty good shot of the bridge being built over the path leading in to the land. This is fairly new construction I believe.
Update shot of Mike Fink’s cabin on the island.
I’m not sure how long these have been in place, but this is the first time I’ve noticed these stairs etc. built in to the Fantasmic storage section.
Trees, dirt, and the Fantaslyand tunnel!
Finally, the warehouse type building being constructed by the Milennium Falcon area has been visible progress. We have walls and floors, and even HVAC systems I’m told. This is being built at a much quicker pace than the other areas, confirming the obvious suggestion that this is not a show building.
And that’s Star Wars Land construction in pictures for the week of April 22nd, 2017. See you next week!
