The Limited Time Magic events are on, and they’re starting off with a very nice surprise in my opinion. The first formal event will be a tribute to The Golden Horseshoe Revue. The show will run from January 10th to February 4th of 2013.
The event will be a salute to the revue with a family friendly variety show that will apparently include a can-can dance! I’m so excited!! The announcement on the Disney Parks blog doesn’t mention if there will be a comedy act similar to the one done by Wally Boag, but we can only hope. In the meantime, here’s a clip of the old show.
I Love the Golden Horseshoe
I think this is a great addition to the Limited Time Magic schedule mainly for its historical and sentimental value. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it was, and perhaps still is, the world’s longest running live stage show at over 50,000 shows. It’s two main stars, Wally Boag and Slue Foot Sue (played by Betty Taylor) are both Disney Legends and both passed a short time ago in 2011. I’ve seen the show in a Disney DVD once and thought it was pretty darn funny. If they were to run it today, it would still be good!
The Golden Horseshoe is also a favorite of mine due to its importance to the park and Walt himself. Walt and his wife held a sort of soft-opening to the park there on their wedding anniversary just days before the park opened. It was at this party that Walt famously climbed his way down from the second story balcony to the main stage in a fit of pure joy.
Limited Time Magic is Here!
The magic is just beginning and I’m already very excited. Stay tuned here for more announcements on future events and for our coverage as they happen.
