So we got some more interesting Disney news and views to talk about this week. Let’s get this party started.
New Mickey Short
I want to lead off with a story that’s more of a tease than anything else, but I think is quite exciting. You’ll remember a couple of months ago Disney released a new Mickey short that we simply loved. And still do. Well this week Disney announced they’re ready to release the next Mickey short on June 11th. Now, I’m not exactly sure why they have to wait almost two months to do this, but I won’t complain.
The fact that we’re getting a new Mickey short is good enough for me. According to the image released, it would appear this new short is a throwback to the original classic cartoons that you can see in the theater on Main Street in Disneyland. While I’m definitely super excited for this, I was kind of hoping for more of the contemporary feel the first short had.
New Cast for Disney Junion – Live on Stage
I’ll admit, this little news item is NOT for me. I have one son, who is 10. No daughters. So when I tell you that the Disney Junior show in DCA has added Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First to their cast, please note that this is purely for informational purposes only
I don’t know much about either show on the Disney channel, but I understand they’re quite popular, and that’s good enough for me. Do you think I should give them a chance? I do like Princess Fantasy Faire, and I have seen and enjoyed Cinderella (mostly for Gus Gus though). Hmmm…maybe not.
New Blue Bayou Menu
Disney is really serious about the new, healthier menu it appears. Every where you look they’re replacing fries with fruit and making sandwiches out of tomatoes! The Blue Bayou has not escaped this it appears as Disneyland has announced some changes to the menu. And these changes are almost strictly on the healthy side.
The Monte Cristo is now served with Fresh Fruit and The Jambalaya is now served with “a flourish of healthful micro-greens.” I don’t know what a micro-green is, but I does appear they intend for us to eat them. The announcement goes on to say that the braised short ribs and Tesoro Island chicken breast are “both tweaked just enough to keep the original flavors but bring a freshness to each dish.” Translation for carnivores like myself, this meal has LESS flavor than before.
The new is available today. For reservations, call 714-781-DINE or email dining reservation requests to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Disneyland Then & Now
Finally, this is more of a shout out than news or views. I came across an article on my Disney news feed that showed some old photos of Disneyland with current photos beside them for comparison. They’re fascinating shots, and something that I’ve often wanted to do myself. I was going to link to that article, but I thought it better to give the credit to where it is really due, and that’s at www.imagineeringdisney.com.
There are many more photos like this on their blog. Just click on either image to see them. I’m a big fan of this site and the work they do. There is definite love and affection for the company and parks, and it shows in the content they provide. I highly recommend them.
