Today was the annual Tournament of Roses Parade, held every year on New Years Day in conjunction with College Football’s Rose Bowl game held in Pasadena. The event is quite historical, going back to the 1890′s. And in those 100 years, it has largely remained the same, with the usual flowered covered floats, marching bands, and people on horses. And this year Disney joined the party with a Cars Land Rose Parade float celebrating Cars Land in California Adventure.
Earlier this week we showed you some in progress photos and video of the float. Today we got to see the final product, and it looked a little something like this.
It’s an impressive looking float, don’t you think? The float was hosted by Zendaya, one of the stars of Disney Channel’s show Shake It Up and radio Disney DJ Ernie D. There were also some live dancers, similar to those found in a Disney Parade that were dressed in Flo’s V8 Cafe costume.
The smoke you see appears to be an effect, but the Disney Parks Blog says it was the result of a break down. But then they also go on to say that Mater, who was following behind, pulled up in front of the float to save the day. So…that means it was an effect. I don’t believe Disney has released any official video of the parade today, but I did find this from Theme Park Insider.

And so we have kicked off the new year with Disneyland. I hope everyone had a great day today!
